New mum shares hack to make sure your baby always sleeps well even when you’ve got noisy jobs to do around the house

A MUM has shared her hack to ensure her baby always sleeps – even when she needs to get her household chores done and dusted.

TikTok user Jena, who runs social media account @themelbourne.mum, posted a video in a bid to help other parents wanting to get things sorted around the house when their baby naps.

A new mum has offered her advice to other parents
tiktok/@themelbourne.mum

And while many might think the idea is to create a quiet environment and not disturb your sleeping child, Jena said she’d found the exact opposite to be true.

In the TikTok video, Jena showed her sleeping baby as she continued with her tasks – including hoovering.

The mumfluencer then shared her helpful trick, and said the earlier parents start, the better.

She wrote alongside her post: “Public service announcement for mums and newborns and pregnant mums.

“When your newborn sleeps during the day, don’t tiptoe around them.

“Make noise – if you do this from day one, they will adjust.

“Not only will this help teach them day from night, but it will also make your life so much easier.”

Jena added in the caption: “Trust and believe that if you do this from day one, it will make your life SO much easier.”

Jena, who is a mum-of-three, was then inundated with comments from fellow social media users who said they were a big fan of her easy trick.

One wrote: “Yes, did this for my boy, he’s 11 months now.”

A second said: “Can confirm!

“I did this and my one year old will sleep through anything.”

Meanwhile, a third commented: “Learnt this the hard way, my 2 year old is such a light sleeper. Definitely won’t be tiptoeing with this baby.”

And a fourth added: “I did this, and my daughter slept through my uncle’s dog barking and jumping around her 🙂

They added: “Best thing I could have done.”

While others said the hack had been tried and tested on them when they were younger.

So much so that that they’d give it a big thumbs up today.

One wrote: “My mum did this when we were kids

“And now I can sleep through a cyclone – thank you mum.”

Jena says tip-toeing around your baby should be banned

Gareth Southgate sets England a new World Cup target

The 1966 world champions will face their greatest challenge of this year’s tournament in title holders France this weekend.

England manager Gareth Southgate has set his side a target of ending their barren record against strong teams.

A 3-0 win over Senegal in the last-16 last weekend booked England a quarter-final date for Saturday with France. The defending champions are undoubtedly the biggest challenge Southgate’s side will face in Qatar so far.

England don’t exactly have a great record against top teams in major tournaments either. They lost to Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals and ended up second-best to Italy at Euro 2020 after losing the final on penalties, despite home advantage at Wembley.

“We’ve made quite a bit of history over the last four or five years, not all of it good, but that’s the great challenge,” Southgate said in a press conference.

“When you go back through the tournaments, you do see the teams that have knocked England out. We haven’t been able to do that [win an away knockout against elite opposition] so that’s the next test for this team.

“We have a lot of experience of these moments and they know that they’ve had to win games in different ways; they’ve had to come from behind in big matches.

“What we talked about against Senegal was keeping the relentless pressure going, not sitting back when we were ahead, making sure that we kept the intensity of our game. We’ve got to do that now against the world champions.”

Want to feel really old? Jude Law’s cute kid from The Holiday looks totally unrecognisable… and she’s had a baby

YOU’LL remember her as Jude Law’s adorable daughter Sophie in Christmas classic The Holiday.

But now Fabulous can reveal Miffy Englefield is all grown up – and had a baby in lockdown.

Universal

Miffy was just six when she starred in The Holiday[/caption]

Miffy, 23, who lives in Littlehampton, West Sussex, with her partner, drummer Alex Whivley-Conway, 26, became a mum to baby girl Frankie on April 23, 2020.

“She arrived at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester three days early after 21 hours of labour,” said Miffy. “Then my temperature soared, doctors realised I had an infection and I was rushed for a c-section.

“I was pumped full of antibiotics and kept in hospital for two days. Alex was only able to visit me for two hours a day.

“It was really scary and because I’m a bit punky and so young I think people judged me… I should have shown them my IMDB page and told them I starred in a film with Cameron Diaz!”

XMAS MISSION

Mum-of-22 Sue Radford’s Christmas trip hit with another huge setback

Miffy was just six when she stole the hearts of viewers after bagging a role in The Holiday, starring alongside Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Emma Pritchard who played her on-screen sister.

The touching rom-com – which The Sun revealed is getting a sequel starring its original quartet – has quickly become as much a part of Christmas as mince pies and present-stuffed stockings.

In the movie, highly-strung Amanda, played by Cameron, strikes up a surprising romance with cheeky chappy Graham, played by Jude.

Amanda starts to suspect Graham of sleeping with other women when she overhears him on the phone but it transpires that he is actually just the father to Sophie and Emma.

“It was amazing being in it,” Miffy laughed. “Everytime it is on telly – and it is a lot – I crack up. It’s on Netflix now too.

“Alex thinks it is really funny. He tells everyone. We watched it together but to be honest it makes me want to rip my eyes out. It’s so embarrassing.”

At the time Miffy, who told how she would perform tongue twisters off-set with Jude, was only in primary school.

But now she can accept he is really hot.

“Jude had so much time for us,” she said. “He was always giving me tips about acting. We would sit and do tongue twisters with him between takes.

“Go back about 10 years when he was in Alfie and yes, to be honest,I probably do fancy him.

“But no, I don’t fancy him in The Holiday – that would be really weird. He played me dad!”

She told how all the stars were “really, really nice”.

“The film was shot back to front,” she explained. “We started filming the end scene where we all danced in the living room first. It was good because it broke the ice and we got to know each other well.”

Describing the cast, she said: “Everyone was so sweet, kind and down-to-earth.

“I didn’t know who Cameron and Jude were because I was six. But I did know who Jack was because my dad was really into alternative music and I liked [his band] Tenacious D. The first time I met him I bounded up to him and said, ‘I love your music’. He was like ‘that is ridiculous, you are six years old.’”

She said the cast – despite being Hollywood elite – were all “really patient with her”.

“Cameron is a wonderful and glamorous American lady,” she said. “She was always so focused. I was bouncing around on set at 5am, hyped up on sugary American cereals, and she was so nice.

“Jack Black is Jack Black – there’s no other way of describing it. He’s as you expect him to be.

“Kate Winslet is so lovely. At the premier she carried my little brother around and was covering him in kisses.”

Miffy, who grew up “poor” in Andover, Hampshire, with her dad Danny, 42, and stepmum Danijela, 30, told how as a child she had a tough upbringing. “At one point we were even homeless,” she admitted. “But dad was wonderful.

“I was a true show off, ridiculously confident and really noisy.

Jude had so much time for us. He was always giving me tips about acting. We would sit and do tongue twisters with him between takes.

Miffy Englefield21

“I originally started acting as a way to earn money.

“I didn’t come from a great background. We struggled with homelessness. I had way too much confidence – I would even put on random shows in the street for strangers.

“My dad decided to channel it into something positive and put me into acting classes and I signed up for an agency.

“The hope was I would get a couple of adverts to pay for the acting classes.”

But in around 2005 she was invited to attend a casting for an unnamed film in London. “There was no information about it,” she explained. “Initially there were 25,000 girls applying to be in it and over several months we were whittled down.”

Eventually – in front of top director Nancy Meyers – she took part in one last audition.

“I jumped all round the house.”

She was granted a working visa and headed to Hollywood for three months where they built “random parts” of the idyllic Surrey village where journalist Kate’s character lives.

Then she worked for another few months in Shere, near Guildford, Surrey.

“As soon as I arrived in LA it was back-to-back wardrobe fittings,” she said.

“It was mad, going from a council estate to that. But I loved it.”

She was surprised by how well-loved the film was but can see it’s charm.

“I have seen it quite a lot. My sister, Ashleigh, who is now 19, used to watch every night when she was seven to help her go to sleep. That’s a bit weird when I think about it.

“But I’ll definitely show Frankie it when she is a bit older.”

I have seen The Holiday quite a lot. My sister, Ashleigh used to watch every night when she was seven to help her go to sleep. That’s a bit weird when I think about it.

Miffy Englefield

When she entered her early teens she decided to quit acting. “It was taking up a lot of mine and dad’s time and I have two younger siblings who also needed his attention.

I don’t regret it, although it was fun,” she said, adding she didn’t know how much she made from the film.

She met Alex at a gig and didn’t find out she was expecting until five months gone.

“I was missing periods so took three pregnancy tests but they all came back negative,” she said.

“I’d actually lost weight and was a size six. I went to the doctor and he thought it was just hormones.

“Then, at five months pregnant, I felt a kick.

“Alex was really shocked but I felt quite chilled out.I thought, ‘well, I guess it’s happening now… not much I can do.’

“And I am really lucky as Frankie is so great. It isn’t easy having a baby in a pandemic. She’s really sociable and I would love  for her to meet more children though.”

She said motherhood has been good for her. “A couple of years ago I was a punk, downing cider, whereas now I am pureeing food and researching the best nurseries… it is funny.

“If she wanted to be an actress I would support her. But I’m not in touch with my cast mates, although I did chat to Nancy on Instagram a few months ago.

“And I know what people will say… the little girl from The Holiday is a mum – god, I must be really old.”

I’m a controversial mum and other parents are stunned at the rules I have for my kids but I don’t care

A MUM has divided opinions after she revealed the controversial parenting rules she sticks to.

Louise Barry, 23, confessed that she will never stop swearing around her tot – and that’s just the start.

The mum shared her parenting rules on TikTok
Tiktok/@louisebarryy
The rules left some parents divided
Tiktok/@louisebarryy

Despite her son, Levi, only being four-months-old the mum has already gathered a lengthy list of rules.

But not everyone is happy with the Aussie mum’s rules and some even reckon her son will resent her when he grows up.

Louise, who shared the rules in a video on her TikTok account, captioned the clip: “Controversial ways I’ll be raising my son.”

The video has over 261k views and has sparked debate over the rules, but Louise says “no one’s gonna change my mind.”

Her first rule is that her son “will be raised as a boy because that’s what he is.”

Not only that, but Louise insisted that the tot “will be taught there are only two genders.”

And as far as swearing goes she’s got no plans to stop doing it around her son, no matter what naysayers think.

“I will not stop swearing around him – they’re just words,” she said.

Louise added that she will still teach her son that they’re “not nice words to use or call other people.”

But not all of the rules were so dividing, as the mum shared that she’ll teach Levi to “treat others the way he wants to be treated.”

The mum was slammed by some parents for the rules, but others defended her.

One wrote: “This is exactly how I will be rising my kids, good to see there’s still some people with common sense.”

A second agreed: “I’m 100% on board with this.”

But others thought the mum’s rules would make her son grow to resent her.

They said: “He might not love these rules when he gets older you know.”

“Personally I’d just let my kid express themselves how they wish,” one commented.

Another wrote: “Just teach him to respect others?”

Prince Harry was my toyboy lover when he was 21 – here’s whether I think he was right to move to the US with Meghan

PRINCE Harry was right to move to the US with Meghan Markle as he’s now free, an ex of the royal has claimed.

Catherine Ommanney had a fling with the Duke of Sussex when he was 21 and she was a 34-year-old mum-of-two.

Catherine was speaking out after Netflix released the second trailer for their docu-series on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex[/caption]

The divorcee, now 51, believes Harry, 38, did the right thing by quitting his royal duties and moving to the US with his wife Meghan.

Now living in Majorca, Catherine told OK! magazine: “Meghan and Harry look very happy together and I wish them all the best. I am so proud that Harry had the courage to move to the States and I think he really needed to do that – to finally be free.”

She then joked: “I have nothing but respect for Meghan, and the fact that Harry is with her shows that he does have more than one type after all – he is clearly not only interested in blondes.”

Catherine’s comments come after Netflix released the second trailer promoting their bombshell six-part documentary on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex which is due to start airing later this month.

The second incendiary teaser released yesterday sees Harry accusing his family of “leaking” and “planting” stories in the media.

He also warns senior royals: “No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth.”

Catherine claimed that when she dated Harry, he dreamed of having a “normal” life and felt suffocated by his royal ties.

She told the magazine: “I did feel sorry for Harry and how little freedom he had to be himself. He seemed a little lost and I think that was because he was surrounded by so many hangers-on who didn’t have his best interests at heart.

“I could see there was little upside to his position beyond the obvious privileges and the three bodyguards that shadowed him didn’t seem to allow for much privacy.

“I remember saying to him, ‘I imagine your life must be genuinely hard, being in such a goldfish bowl.’ He replied: ‘It definitely has its moments.’

“I also asked Harry, ‘Would you like to swap your life with somebody else’s life?’ He said, ‘Yes, often. I would love to lead a normal life.’”

Catherine spoke out ahead of the release of Harry’s memoirs, Spare, in early January.

It’s thought the release of the book could cause further problems with his family as he is expected to talk about his difficult relationships with both his dad, King Charles, and his brother Prince William.

As well as talking about his wife, Harry is also expected to talk about former girlfriends and the pressure they were under while dating the royal.

Catherine, who was born in Marlborough, Wiltshire, met Harry at the Art Bar in Chelsea in May 2006.

She said: “Later, when we were alone, Harry told me about his grandmother and how close they were, and how supportive she was of him as the younger brother. I got the impression he was her favourite, as he was the naughty one.”

They swapped phone numbers and went on a second date around a week later.

Catherine added: “I had a babysitter at home and wasn’t planning on having a big night. It was midweek and I had been at work until about 7pm. We had a kiss and Harry was very complimentary and attentive, telling me how beautiful I was. I think the biggest compliment he paid me was when he said that I made him ‘feel normal’.”

The pair had a couple more dates but the romance fizzled out and Harry changed his number.

Catherine said she wasn’t heartbroken though as she knew nothing would come of the relationship.

She previously told The Sun on Sunday: “I had the time of my life when I was with Harry as we got each other’s sense of humour.

“Without being arrogant, I think we both quite fancied each other even though he was way too young for me. If he wasn’t a royal and was maybe ten years older, he would be my perfect man.”

Catherine told OK!: “I genuinely hope that Harry has more freedom now, as I think it was something he was clearly craving. And I hope he’s happy with Meghan. I only wish him the best.”

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion review: A missed opportunity to remake the story

THOSE who have played the original Final Fantasy 7 know what grinding looks like.

Walking back and forth for encounters, then waiting through that battle transition that takes a little bit too long, to click your move and one shot the enemy.

Square Enix

Zack and Cloud before two became one.[/caption]

However, this process doesn’t always feel tedious; when you get swept up in a gripping story, you don’t mind the grind.

Crisis Core is not that. Unlike the original FF7, which had its confusing parts, the story is almost incomprehensible here.

What’s more, it’s drawn out with numerous optional — but not really — missions.

If you take a JRPG like Pokémon, the path may often feel linear, but it’s filled with so many battles, and monsters to catch that with each step you feel a sense of progress.

More in Gaming Reviews

BUG CATCHING

Pokémon Scarlet review: A buggy mess and still one of the best Pokémon games

NEED FOR REALISM

Need for Speed Unbound is set more firmly in reality says director

Here the progress is all numerical. What chapter are you on? How much of that chapter is left? What percentage of missions have you finished?

It’s not as satisfying when you don’t have the same sense of gains and progress as you do in many other JRPGs.

We’ve long awaited more background to Zack Fair, the member of SOLDIER whose memories got mixed up with Cloud’s.

However, he isn’t given much depth. He’s naive, try-hard, someone who just wants to help out, but there’s no hopes, dreams, or vulnerability.

It’s a prequel to FF7’s main story, so you should know that before diving in, because the whole story here is figuring out why Sephiroth is such a grumpy goose.

Crisis Core clearly wanted to introduce new and interesting monsters to fight, but doesn’t add the context that makes the story make sense.

It’s all well and good to say that the evil Shinra scientist invented these beasts, but why they’re allowed to roam the city without turning public opinion against the company is bizarre.

While we know from FF7 that Zack is Aerith’s boyfriend here, that’s never clearly set out. There’s no intimacy between them, and interactions feel forced.

Many story scenes are hidden behind a slot machine, like the one used in Cait Sith’s Limit Break in the main game.

However, triple-sevens don’t let you one-shot the final boss like Cait Sith’s slots do; instead, you get a single level up.

Fans of FF7’s story won’t get what they’re looking for here. More on Cloud’s background, and who Zack really was.

The fact that the original Crisis Core was on PSP is evident here. Chapters are short, but due to the slot machine rolls, optional missions feel necessary to level up.

Combat has a new twist which makes the battling fun at least. You can Fuse Materia for early powerful attacks, and mix attack slots with stat buffing effects.

Overall, the fighting is more accessible for modern day audiences, and bridges the transition from handheld to home console.

The remaster probably appeals more than the original, as the visuals are right up to date with the modern standards, and the voice acting as well.

However, the old issues aren’t out of date. It’s far from the prequel that fans wanted, but if you’re as immersed in the world of Midgar as Zack is, then you’ll still have some fun.

Bukayo Saka reveals support from Arsenal legends & Arsene Wenger regret

The England winger revealed the Arsenal support network he has from ‘legends’ and his one big Wenger regret.

Bukayo Saka has revealed the regular support he gets from Arsenal legends Thierry Henry and Robert Pires.

The 21-year-old, a product of Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy, has been one of England’s standout performers in his first-ever World Cup, scoring three goals in as many games for the Three Lions.

Likewise, Henry and Pires also starred in the World Cup during their respective careers, helping France lift the trophy in 1998 before teaming up to go an entire Premier League season unbeaten with the famous Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ in 2003/04.

“We have so many French players, like Thierry and Robert Pires, that have been around the club and spoken to me and helped me,” Saka said in a press conference on Monday.

“They still both support me to this day, so I’m grateful to them. Of course, on the pitch, they were magnificent, and they delivered silverware for Arsenal, so they’ll definitely be legends – always.”

Henry’s phone call & the Wenger regret

After Saka’s penalty miss in England’s Euro 2020 final defeat by Italy, Henry contacted the youngster to offer his support.

“It showed a lot of character from him to get my number and reach out to me,” Saka said of the former Gunners striker’s gesture. “After most Arsenal games, he reaches out to me. He’s still so passionate about the club; he’s an amazing person.”

However, while Saka is in regular contact with some of Arsenal’s finest players in history, the academy graduate is yet to meet the club’s legendary former manager Arsene Wenger.

“One of my biggest regrets – things I haven’t been able to do – was to meet Arsene Wenger,” Saka revealed. “I know how much everyone at the club loves him, and I know what he did for the club.”

Saka will hope to continue his fine World Cup form in England’s quarter-final tie against France on Saturday.

Aldi Fabulous Food Football News Marks & Spencer Money saving News

I’m a food pro, I bought M&S and Aldi’s party food to compare the taste and here’s what I thought

WITH Christmas just around the corner, party season is already in full swing – and with that comes this year’s party food offerings.

One foodie decided to taste test the best on the market, as she bought the same products from M&S and Aldi to see which came out on top.

A foodie shared her thoughts on the party food products
tiktok/@beccaeatseverything

TikTok user @beccaeatseverything shared her thoughts on social media in a video, as she also revealed the price difference between the two.

First up, Becca visited her local stores and bought two packets of Tempura prawns.

The M&S prawns cost £5.00 for 180 grams, while Aldi’s 156 grams amounted to £1.99.

Giving her verdict on M&S’ version, Becca said it was a matter of two halves.

She said: “Prawn was nice but the tempura batter was so very bland.”

Becca finished off her review of the product by scoring the savoury bites a disappointing three out of ten.

On the other hand, Becca had nothing but good things to say about Aldi’s similar product.

After tucking in, she said: “Loads of flavour, really delicious and well seasoned.”

And it was clear from the score she gave them that they were the runaway winner, as she said they were worthy of an eight out of ten.

In the same video, Becca tried M&S panko breadcrumb prawns (140g for £5.50) which scored six out of ten, while Aldi’s (£3.99 for 160g) was slightly lower at five out of ten.

Other items Becca compared included an Indian selection pack and spring rolls.

FABULOUS BINGO: Get a £20 bonus & 30 free spins when you spend £10 today

Aldi’s vegetable spring rolls (216g for 99p) came in at four out of ten as the pasty was “really thick” and there wasn’t too much filling inside.

M&S’ offering of the same snack cost £5 for 300g. Becca’s verdict? “Nice pastry and vegetables but it was a bit bland.”

She also marked them five out of ten.

Meanwhile, M&S’ Indian selection comes in at £5.50 for 420g and got one of the best reviews.

After giving it an eight, she said: “Samosas were beautiful, so much flavour.

“Onion bhajis were a bit tasteless, pakora was nice but very spicy.”

Aldi’s Indian selection (462g for £3.49) sadly failed to hit the same mark and scored just half marks.

Becca said: “Samosas were ok, onion bhajis were flavourful. Pakoras a bit on the bland side.”

TOWIE axe two stars in huge shock cast shake-up

TOWIE has axed two stars from the show in a huge cast shake-up.

The Sun can exclusively reveal that the long-running ITVBe favourite has ditched two newcomers, Mia Sully and Hannah Voyen after just one series.

Instagram

Mia will not be returning to the show after getting axed[/caption]

instagram

Hannah will also not be returning[/caption]

The duo only began filming for Towie in the spring and made their debut in the recent series, which began airing in August.

But bosses have decided not to ask them back next year as they didn’t feel they made the impact they were hoping for.

A source revealed: “Producers had high hopes for Mia and Hannah when they signed them and hoped they would shake up the show, but ultimately, they didn’t feel they were the right fit in the end and viewers didn’t connect with them either.

“It happens quite a lot with Towie where newcomers come in and it just doesn’t work out. Bosses decided to cut their losses and start fresh next series.”

Hannah and Mia’s Towie tenure was bumpy from the start.

They originally joined the show with their pal Pia Grace Smith, but Pia was axed from the series after vaping on a plane back from filming scenes in the Dominican Republic.

Pia was never shown on screen and Hannah and Mia’s scenes that were filmed in the Caribbean were also scrapped.

Hannah also attracted controversy off-screen when her lover Kirk Holdrick, 40, went on the run after an altercation with her ex.

Last month, the Essex gangster, who was previously jailed for armed robbery, breached the terms of his license following the supposed altercation with his love rival.

Police appealed to the public for information about his whereabouts but warned the public not to approach him.

It all comes after The Sun revealed Towie would not air a Christmas special this year.

The series has broadcast a Christmas special for eleven out of the last twelve years, only skipping 2018, and it is usually a staple of the ITVBe festive schedule.

A show insider said: “The cast were floored by the news as Towie’s Christmas specials are something of a tradition, so none of them were expecting to not be filming this time around.”

But bosses have confirmed there is no need to worry about the show’s future, with two series airing next year to coincide with the series’ 12th anniversary.

Lime Pictures’ Rebecca Kenny-Smith said “We are so excited to bring The Only Way Is Essex back in 2023.

“Towie is truly an iconic British TV show, which has been embedded into viewers’ screens for over 30 series.

“We look forward to bringing more entertainment from the gossip and glamour capital of the UK next year.”
