Man Utd AXE Cristiano Ronaldo with immediate effect as they rip up £500k-a-week contract and release blunt statement

CRISTIANO RONALDO has been AXED by Manchester United after having his £500,000-a-week contract ripped up.

The Portugal forward, 37, blasted the club in his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

And as SunSport revealed last week, the Red Devils have decided to terminate his contract with immediate effect.

The news was announced at 5.30pm as United released a blunt statement for the club icon.

The Old Trafford club – who will NOT give their iconic No7 a pay-off to save themselves £11.5million – said: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

Reaction as Cristiano Ronaldo sensationally LEAVES Manchester United

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

The news comes less than 48 hours before Ronaldo kicks off his fifth World Cup campaign with Portugal.

The Euro 2016 champions face Ghana in Doha on Thursday afternoon.

And captain Ronaldo will start the game unemployed as a free agent.

HOW TO GET FREE BETS ON THE WORLD CUP

Ronaldo hit back with a short statement of his own shortly after the confirmation of his exit.

He said: “Following talks with Manchester United, we’ve mutually agreed to end our contract.

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change.

“It feels like the right time to seek a new challenge. I wish Man Utd all the best.”

Ronaldo had played a bit-part role under Ten Hag this season with just four Premier League starts and one goal in ten appearances.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar launched a scathing attack on Manchester United in his 90-minute sit-down chat with Piers.

In there, he claimed he did not have respect for manager Ten Hag, the club betrayed him and they did not believe him regarding his baby daughter’s ill health over the summer.

When snippets of the bombshell interview were released by The Sun hours after the 2-1 win at Fulham, United said they would wait for the full facts before making a decision.

It is understood they sought legal advice and clearly feel they have grounds to terminate the big-money contract seven months early.

Morgan retweeted the United tweet and simply added: “The end.”

Fans on Twitter were convinced Ronaldo took one final swipe at United with his new watch design that appears to feature his headed goal scored AGAINST the Red Devils during his time with Real.

Bookmakers Betfair have made Ronaldo’s boyhood club Sporting Lisbon the favourites to clinch his signature on a free transfer in January.

Todd Boehly’s Chelsea are second favourites ahead of an MLS side, Bayern Munich, PSG and Napoli.

Ronaldo’s former team-mate Rio Ferdinand was live on BBC covering Poland’s 0-0 draw with Mexico when the Ronaldo news broke this evening.

The ex-defender said: “Cristiano obviously did that interview with the mindset that he wasn’t happy and wanted to get out of the club.

“He made that very clear.

“I think Erik ten Hag got what he wanted in this situation as well. Both parties are happy and we can move on.

“The next chapter for Cristiano? It depends what his motivation is.

“Play in the Champions League? Money? To continue playing somewhere with a nice climate?

“We’ll find out in due course I’m sure.”

How do I convince my son that he needs to stop drinking?

DEAR DEIDRE: MY son turned to drink after his friends were killed in a car crash almost 40 years ago.

He was riding behind on his motorbike and watched as his mate’s car swerved off the road and crashed into a tree.

There were two of his friends in the car. One was his best pal, and both were killed outright.

Everyone thinks my son turned to drink because he saw them die. But he says he doesn’t know if this is the reason.

I am his 78-year-old mum. My son is 59. He has been drinking for years and is now an alcoholic, but he refuses to go to his doctor or attend AA meetings.

He doesn’t even know if he wants to give up drinking.

I worry about him so much but don’t know what to do.

Police called to Scots flats as crowd gathers outside home of suspected paedophile

POLICE were called to a block of flats after a furious crowd gathered outside the home of a suspected paedophile.

A large group of angry locals gathered outside a man’s home in Cambusnethan, North Lanarkshire, shortly after 7pm last night and branded him a “beast”.

Residents alleged yesterday evening that the target of their abuse was an alleged paedophile living in the area.

Numerous police cars were spotted at the scene as they shouted for people to “move back” from the property.

It is thought that they managed to subdue the crowd and they dispersed later in the evening.

But locals told the Scottish Sun that they are still furious at the situation, and claimed that the man’s flat overlooks a primary school playground.

They called on North Lanarkshire Council to move the suspected sex offender to an area where they wouldn’t be so close to children.

One person told the Scottish Sun last night: “As a parent of a pupil at the school it’s sickened me knowing these people are housed overlooking where my child will be out playing throughout the day.

“These people are obviously a known risk and the council are endangering our kids knowingly housing anyone who could be any level of risk there.

“What would the excuses be if no one had been made aware tonight and anything had happened?”

The council refused to comment on the individual case, but they said that housing sex offenders is a “sensitive and complex area of work.”

They added that public safety is “always the main priority” in such cases, but they also have to balance that with the rights of the person they are looking to place in a community.

A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: “Sex offenders are monitored in the community under the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) which involve the police service, local authorities, the NHS, Scottish Prison Service and other partners.

“None of the partners engaged in MAPPA comment on specific cases or individuals.

“The management of sex offenders in the community is a particularly sensitive and complex area of work.

“Public safety is always the main priority in all cases.

“While it remains the main priority, a balance is required between public safety and the right of the individual.

“All aspects of cases are carefully considered at every stage of the process, from psychological and risk assessments to places of residence and potential security issues.

“A number of measures can be put in place to manage offenders in the community and these are monitored by dedicated police officers and officials from partner organisations.”

Cops confirmed they attended the area last night and that the crowd scattered a few hours later.

No one is thought to have been injured as a result of the situation.

Black Friday 2019 Deals and sales Football News Money Money saving News News Money

Sky launches Black Friday deals for existing customers – and it the lowest price ever

SKY has unveiled its Black Friday deals for customers and it includes offers on multiple products.

Black Friday is just around the corner and many shoppers will have already started grabbing deals or making wish lists for the big day.

Sky customers will be able to take advantage of its Black Friday offerings over the next week or so

And Sky customers will be able to grab some Black Friday deals.

Shoppers will be able to get discounts on Sky Glass, Sky broadband and Sky mobile.

The below offers for Sky Glass and Sky Broadband are available to new and existing Sky customers.

The Sky Mobile offers are only available to new plan customers.

SWITCH UP

Big discounts and bonus goodies for Nintendo Switch with these Black Friday deals

MIDRANGE MAGIC

Samsung Galaxy A53 with 100GB just £22p/m with exclusive Black Friday code

All new offers taken up will form a new contract with Sky.

For last year’s Black Friday, Sky offered customers its broadband package for £25 a month but the service provider has cut that to £23.

Of course, do check for better prices from Sky rivals – you may get a better deal.

It’s also worth noting that you’ll be tied into a contract with any of these deals so make sure you’re ok to pay each month.

Here’s what Sky is offering for Black Friday.

Sky broadband

Shoppers will be able to grab Sky broadband Superfast fibre for just £23 a month on an 18-month contract.

Superfast 35 fibre broadband is better for households to be able to comfortably stream and browse on their devices.

Larger families may struggle with this, especially with children on multiple devices at once.

This package was released earlier this year, aimed at smaller households who want to cut costs.

The current price is £35.50 a month, so you could save yourself £225 across the contract.

But after 18 months, the price will jump to £35 and there is a £19.95 set-up fee for new customers.

You must also live in a fibre-compatible area – the offer is available now, until November 28.

In comparison, Virgin Media is offering Black Friday shoppers the chance to get its broadband-only package for £27 a month, but with no set-up fee.

The speed is 362Mbps compared to Sky’s 36Mbps.

The best option for you depends on the size of your home, location, devices and users so make sure you carefully consider your options.

Sky Glass and Sky Ultimate TV

Sky Glass is the telecom giant’s dish-less service, relying entirely on broadband to bring live TV to your living room.

There’s no need to make space for a set-top box either, as it’s all built into the TV itself.

New and current customers can get Sky Glass with Sky Ultimate TV (which includes Sky Entertainment and Netflix), for only £36 a month.

The £36 is made up of an £11 fee for Sky Glass (usually £13) and a £25 fee for Ultimate TV.

After 18 months, Sky Ultimate TV will increase to £26 so your contract will go up by £1.

Sky customers can upgrade to Sky Glass while new customers will be able to sign up directly [check]

If you already have Netflix, then it’s worth seeing how much you’d save, as this offer comes with Netflix built in.

You’ll need to pay a £10 upfront fee on top of the monthly cost – the offer is available from now until November 28.

The £36 offer is only for a 43-inch Sky Glass TV on a 48-month contract – so make sure you’re in it for the long run.

It’s worth considering whether you’d save money on a Sky basic TV package and a separate Netflix subscription over this combined package.

For example, if you pay for a basic package of Sky TV at £34 a month and then £10.99 for Netflix’s standard package, you’d be spending £44.99 in total each month.

The Black Friday Sky Glass offer though would save you £8 a month.

Earlier this month, we reported on a deal that sets you up with £100 of free credit when you pick up the Sky Glass, which is Sky’s very own television – prices start at £36 per month.

Sky has also reduced the monthly cost of its Sky Stream TV box to just £25 per month – that’s an impressive monthly bill on a service that sets you up with Sky TV and Standard Netflix.

Rival Virgin Media has slashed its broadband prices by over £500 in a huge site sale, with its M350 package reduced from £57 to just £27 per month.

Sky Mobile

Sky mobile customers can get 50% off 60GB plans across all phones this Black Friday.

Shoppers could get the iPhone 14 from £42 a month with no upfront cost, or the Samsung S22+ for £40 a month – both with 60GB.

Both offers would come with a 36-month contract, so make sure you’re able to pay it for that long.

If you have the money to buy the phone outright, then you can also do so.

As well as this, you can get 25GB of data for just £12 per month with Sky’s SIM-only offer, giving you an extra 10GB of data per month.

You won’t be able to get the offer if you mix it with another mobile plan – it’s only available on new plans so you would be opening a new contract.

The offer is available now until 11.59pm on November 28.

It’s worth noting that if you’re already in a contract with Sky or another provider, then you will have to pay that off first – so make sure that would be worth it.

It’s also worth shopping around at other mobile providers first.

For example, Three is offering the iPhone 14 for £63 a month, there’s no upfront cost and with 128GB of data.

Why does Princess Anne support Scotland at rugby when her son-in-law Mike Tindall played for England?

I’M a Celebrity fans have been rushing to praise camp father figure Mike Tindall on the hit reality show.

All eyes have been on England Rugby World Cup winner “Magic Mike” because of the remarkable decision to let a member of the extended Royal family enter the jungle.

Princess Anne, Princess Royal with Scotland captain Jamie Richie[/caption]

She loves chatting rugby with son-in-law Mike[/caption]

Tindall, 44, is married to Zara Phillips – daughter of Princess Anne, the Princess Royal and the niece of King Charles.

Royal watchers say Tindall is very close to his mother-in-law because she is a massive rugby fan and they love chatting about the game during family get-togethers.

But what is less well known is Princess Anne wanted her son-in-law to be on the LOSING side whenever England faced Auld Enemy Scotland in the Calcutta Cup.

In fact she rarely misses a Scotland game and can usually be spotted in the stand at Murrayfield, draped in tartan and belting out the national anthem Flower of Scotland.

So it’s safe to say things get a little bit tasty when the oval ball game is discussed over the family dinner table at Christmas.

On first impressions, it might seem a strange affiliation for Anne, but there’s a reason behind her affection for the boys in blue.

Getty Images – Getty

Tindall was part of the England squad that won the World Cup in 2003[/caption]

Her son Peter Phillips, like his grandfather the late Duke of Edinburgh and his uncle, the King, was educated at Gordonstoun, a boarding school near Lossiemouth in Moray.

While studying there he became head boy and played for the school at rugby before becoming the first member of the Royal Family to win an international cap following his selection to play rugby for the Scottish U18s in 1985.

His mum followed his youth career closely and due to her new-found interest in the game north of the border, she had already performed the official opening of the East Stand at Murrayfield in 1983.

The fondness grew and she then became patron of the Scottish Rugby Union in the 1986-87 season.

Since then she has thrown herself into the role and rarely misses a match, home or away.

Following Australia’s cruel defeat over Scotland in the 2015 World Cup quarter-finals, she’s said to have ‘consoled’ the squad in the locker room after the match.

Some reports suggested her fury at the ref’s catastrophic last-minute call ‘turned the air blue,’ such was her frustration at Scotland missing out on a historic win.

And again, this is despite son-in-law,Tindall, being a former English rugby union star and part of the England squad which won the 2003 World Cup and star for Gloucester for nine years.

Tindall loves that his wife’s mother is such a huge rugby fan and once revealed: “She has a great sense of humour and she is very knowledgeable about many things, especially rugby.”

But those who followed the Princess Royal’s younger years might not be surprised by the attachment to the Scottish rugby team because there were clues to her love of Scotland even before she got into the sport.

Throughout the years her affinity with Scotland has grown and grown. It may have all started when she was five years old and started to really take notice of her surroundings.

Anne had been to Scotland before, but this was a different trip in that she journeyed with her mother and Prince Charles to the village of Portvoller on the Isle of Lewis, further north than she had ever been before.

The holiday not only cemented her love of Scotland, but during the trip the Royal Family visited Tiumpan Head Lighthouse on the Eye Peninsula and thus also began Anne’s love of lighthouses.

Like her older brother, Anne was close to her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, who also had such a love of Scotland that she considered herself to be a Scot even though she was born in England.

Festive fail

I ruined Christmas for my 3-year-old daughter after making a present mistake

Much of her maternal grandmother’s childhood was spent at Glamis Castle and the whole family have always loved Balmoral, so it is not surprising that Anne has such an affinity with Scotland.

She once said: “My grandmother was a great influence on all of us, but I don’t think any of us needed convincing to have a love of Scotland.

“Scotland is such a beautiful country with such passionate people, who could fail to want to be a part of it?”

DEAR DEIDRE: I DON’T know how to cope with my husband’s terminal cancer, or how I’m going to get through his final weeks.

Brazil and Real Madrid legend Marcelo to leave Olympiacos after just months amid ‘fitness concerns’ and lack of minutes

OLYMPIACOS look set to terminate Marcelo’s contract due to fitness issues and a series of hapless performances in the first half of the season, reports suggest.

The Real Madrid legend joined the Greek champions only last September and received the biggest hero’s welcome any other star signing ever got at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.

But the star full-back has failed to live up to the immense hype after his glittering 15-year stint at Real where he won 25 major honours, including five Champions League trophies.

According to FootMercato, as cited by BeFootball, the Piraeus giants are “fed up” with the former Brazil international being unable to play more than 30 minutes per match.

The same report claims Olympiacos are unhappy with the 34-year-old’s inability to regain full fitness.

Therefore, the Greek giants’ manager Michel doesn’t include Marcelo in his plans for the second half of the season with the team currently fourth in the Superleague table.

Marcelo has never managed to start a single game for Olympiacos and has fallen down the pecking order at left-back.

The defender has only amassed a mere five appearances and 121 minutes across all competitions.

According to Greek reporter Kostas Nikolakopoulos, Marcelo has an offer to hang up his boots and return to Real to become a global ambassador.

There is also interest from Brazilian clubs offering him the chance to retire in his homeland.

Olympiacos went through a turbulent summer that saw them sack two managers – club legend Pedro Martins and current West Brom boss Carlos Corberan – and completed a total of 17 signings.

Among them were star arrivals as Marcelo was joined by former Real team-mate and Everton star James Rodriguez as well as ex-Atletico Madrid and Croatia ace Sime Vrsaljko.

Vrsaljko also failed to deliver as his contract was terminated on Monday but James has been firing on all cylinders and earned a new deal.

I work at Hooters – we get fined if our uniform isn’t perfect, we even use a DIY hack to fix our shoes

BEFORE clocking in for a shift at Hooters, the staff must make sure their uniforms are in tip-top condition.

If their pantyhose or shoes are damaged, one woman said, it could cost big bucks and put a major dent in a shift’s paycheck.

A Hooters employee named Nikki lamented the store’s uniform policy

A Hooters waitress named Nikki lamented the strict uniform rules on her TikTok, where she also mentioned the DIY method staff use as a temporary fix.

Nikki lip-synched with the Yo Gotti song Law, using the captions to recount the workplace “laws” she had to follow.

“Don’t come to work with ripped pantyhose,” she wrote in one caption. “Don’t come to work with dirty shoes.”

Then, Nikki’s response appeared on-screen in a new caption.

WHAT A HOOT

I’m a Hooters girl – my secret uniform trick makes a big difference

It read, “I don’t wanna buy either so it’s…” As the caption trailed off, Nikki mouthed the words “f**k the law” in time with the song.

In the video description, she talked in more detail about the expensive outcome of a uniform infraction.

She would turn to other methods of preserving her outfit when she didn’t want “to start [a] shift $60 in the negative.”

It wasn’t clear if Nikki was referring to the cost of the shoes, or fines levied against employees who arrive out of uniform.

The US Sun reached out to Hooters for comment about the uniform policy, the costs of uniform components, and repercussions employees may face for infractions.

Hooters employees typically wear a specific style of white sneakers, which need to be kept clean at all times.

Nikki said that when shoes get too old and ragged to clean properly, she uses a cheap alternative to keep them looking neat.

“We will shoe paint our shoes til they’re dead,” she vowed.

On TikTok, Nikki asked her fellow Hooters workers if they used the same methods to save money.

“Who else waits until they’re forced to buy new shoes?” she wrote.

Some people dismissed Nikki’s budget woes in the comment section.

One man wrote, “six bucks gets you new tights.”

But the costs add up, especially if other aspects of the uniform are taken into consideration.
