Erik ten Hag and his men locked horns with Real Betis in the first leg of the round of 16 games in the UEFA Europa League competition. The last time both teams met, the match ended in a 1-0 win in favor of the Spanish side. Real Betis lined up in a 4-4-2 formation while Manchester United started the game in a 4-3-3 formation.
The home side commenced the game strongly as they won a corner in the 1st minute of the game but could not score from it. Manchester United continued to dominate the match as they held possession of the ball. The deadlock was broken in the 5th minute as Rashford gave the Red Devils the lead.
Manchester United pressed for a second goal as Weghorst missed an opportunity to score in the 8th minute.

The opening 10 minutes of the game ended with Ten Hag’s men as the better side in terms of ball possession and chances created. The away side started to for in confidence as they held possession of the ball but could not create any danger. Real Betis kept searching for their first effort of the game.
Weghorst missed another good chance to score in the 17th minute.
Real Betis won a corner in the 22nd minute. Both teams struggled to create any clear chances. Wehorst missed yet another good opportunity in the 27th minute to double Manchester United’s lead. Rashford came close to scoring the second goal in the 29th minute but was denied by C. Bravo.
Perez gave Real Betis an equalizer in the 31st minute with a beautiful strike. Casemiro was shown a yellow card in the 35th minute.
The away side won a corner in the 37th minute but could not find the target. De Gea’s misplaced pass almost cost his team a goal in the 43rd minute. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
