Legendary Nigerian rapper and YBNL Records owner Olamide has revealed why he decided to sign artists like Fireboy DML and Asake to his label.
In a recent podcast interview, the rapper discusses the reasons behind his choice to add musicians to his label.
Baddo, who founded his record label YBNL in 2012, has helped form the careers of numerous prominent Nigerian musicians, including Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML, and Asake.
Olamide’s empire has recently grown so large that his current performers Asake and Fireboy are among Africa’s most successful new-age musicians.

Olamide explained in a podcast with a UK music writer that he chose to sign new musicians after receiving too much money and not knowing what to do with it.
He goes on to say that his own small contribution to society is assisting aspiring artists in realizing their goals.
‘I just started stacking up money and the money was becoming too much for me. I was like, “yo, I don’t have anything to do with this money. I need to sign new guys. Let me spend money on people”’, he said.
